On this day, 79 years ago, the legendary Jamaican musician, The Right Honourable Robert Nesta Marley, better known as Bob Marley, was born. His unparalleled talent, dedication and activism put Jamaica on the global map and forever changed the landscape of music and cultural advocacy.
Marley is the world’s most impactful recording artist to this day. His music was not only a medium for entertainment; it was also a powerful tool for spreading Rastafari message of peace, love, and unity through reggae. His songs became anthems for the disenfranchised, advocating against injustice worldwide. Through his artistry, he brought the Rastafari livity (lifestyle) to the forefront, which garnered a massive following and subsequently turned it into a global movement.
